Laois man takes over as General Manager of The Heritage Hotel and Spa

 

A Laois man has recently been appointed as General Manager of the 5 Star Heritage Hotel and Spa in Killenard.

Ger Alley from Durrow began his role in January having previously worked in a number of other high-profile hotels around the country.

Educated in Heywood CS, Ger’s family have owned the popular Copper Kettle restaurant in Durrow for many years.

Ger studied Hotel and Catering Management in Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology.

He subsequently went on to take up roles in Kilashee House Hotel in Kildare, the Hodson Bay in Athlone and Trim Castle in Meath before then spending over five years as Operations Manager in the Newpark Hotel in  Kilkenny.

Ger’s most recent role was as Food and Beverage Director in the K Club, Co. Kildare before he was appointed as General Manager of The Heritage Hotel and Spa by FBD.

The Heritage – which boasts 98 bedrooms – was bought by FBD Hotels and Resorts for around €9million in December last.

FBD also own the Castleknock Hotel in Dublin and Faithlegg in Waterford as well as resorts in Spain. The new owners are planning a massive €1million refurbishment of the hotel with work already started on the bar.

Speaking to Ger he said he is very excited to take up the new role. “I have a great team around me and we are building towards a very bright future within the FBD hotel & resorts.”

The Heritage Hotel and Spa offers one of the foremost experiences of Spa Hotels in Ireland and has been recognized as one of the top five in the country.

The spa at The Heritage Hotel and Spa offers a touch of tranquillity in a contemporary and luxurious setting with 20 treatment rooms and a selection of spa treatments and packages.

There is also a health club with a gym and fitness studio as well as with a 15m leisure pool, Jacuzzi, saunas and steam rooms.

The Heritage Hotel and Spa also has an award winning restaurant, bar, conference and banqueting facilities, a bespoke business centre and a 50-seat auditorium/cinema. The hotel is also a very popular wedding venue.
