Voting lines open for two Laois schools in Junk Kouture Grand Final

The voting lines have opened this morning for the Junk Kouture Grand Final.

Two Laois schools will be walking the catwalk in the 3 Arena on 2nd May.

Public votes account for 10% of the overall result so any vote will help the two Laois teams to rise to the top in the Grand Final.

The teams who have made it to the final are ‘The Truth Lies Within’ from Scoil Chríost Rí and ‘Butterfly Effect’ from Mountrath CS.

‘The Truth Lies Within’ is made up of model Grace Kearney, Rachael Lewis and Amy Doyle. The front of the dress is hand knitted from different twines and crocheted flowers.

The back of the dress is made from contrasting black leather which illustrates the stories which are not the prettiest.

The ‘Butterfly Effect’ team is Fianna Byrne, Roisin Scully and Orla Brickley.

The dress has a skirt made from scrap farm wire which is entirely covered in paper butterflies made from old books.

‘Butterfly Effect’ were presented with a silver ticket by James Patrice before anyone else to secure their place in the regional final.

They were since visited by the celebrity again to be awarded a Wildcard place in the final.

Junk Kouture is a competition to inspiring young designers in second level education to use everyday junk materials to create striking works of wearable art.

It is a huge achievement to reach the final in the fashion competition that captivated 24,000 students this year.

You can vote for ‘The Truth Lies Within’ and ‘Butterfly Effect’ every day from today until Friday 5th at midnight at https://boijunkkouture.com/.
