In Pictures: Laois turns white as first snowfall of Winter 2019 hits

It’s the second week of November but yesterday gave us a taste of what this winter may have in store.

What began as rain, quickly turned to snow around mid-afternoon and just didn’t stop.

The snow began slowly and then became very heavy – and before we knew it, much of the county was covered in the fluffy stuff.

Portlaoise, Stradbally, Timahoe, Portarlington, Emo, Killeshin, The Swan and Barrowhouse were among the places that were hit hardest.

According to AA Roadwatch, wet and icy conditions are set to linger for a time this morning so please take care on the roads.

We sent a shout-out to our followers to send us in some pictures as their homes turned white and they didn’t disappoint.

Pictures came flooding in from all over the county and they really are beautiful.
