The Laois GAA domestic season is almost at a close with just two games remaining in 2019.
They are both football finals and the first of them takes place this afternoon in Mountmellick.
The U-20 ‘B’ football crown is down for decision as Clonaslee-St Manman’s and The Heath go head to head at 1.30pm.
Clonaslee have been very impressive en route to the final – winning all of their games rather routinely.
They were pushed hard by Sarsfields Gaels in the first of the Group A games but won that by 2-11 to 1-13 and haven’t looked back since.
They trashed Killeshin, defeated Park-Ratheniska-Spink and then received a walkover from Ballylinan to finish top of the group.
This set up a semi final with Na Fianna Og where once again Clonaslee prevailed by a large margin.
They have two members of this year’s Laois U-20 panel in their ranks in the shape of Jack Owens and Sean Condon while they also have a number of players with Intermediate experience.
Bob Downey, Cian Barrett, Liam Senior, Paddy Hyland and Ryan Kilroe all played for Clonalsee on their way to the Intermediate final this year where they were just beaten by neighbours Rosenallis.
As for The Heath, they too topped their group but they did it after playing just one of their three games.
They defeated Na Fianna Og by seven points but received walkovers from Camross and Rosenallis to top the group.
That put them through to a semi final last weekend against Park-Ratheniska-Spink where a last gasp Aaron Thornton goal led them to a three point win.
PJ Daly, Liam Kinsella, Dylan Kavanagh, Neil Keane, Conor Booth and Leon Holland are among their top players and they will need to be at their very best here.
But Clonaslee will be favourites and they may just have too much in the end.
