Academic success was rewarded recently by Carlow Institute of Technology as part of their scholarship program.

Gyula Torok, a Portlaoise College Leaving Cert Student in June, was one of the lucky recipients.

Gyula who is studying a Batchelor of Science (Honours) received the award based on having the highest Points in his Leaving Cert.

This is a fantastic achievement for Gyula and his family and is recognition for the hard work and dedication that he had to his studies over his years in Portlaoise College.

Speaking after the ceremony Portlaoise College Principal Mr Noel Daly said: “I am delighted to have got the invitation to attend such a prestigious event and share in the student’s success.

“We are very proud of Gyula and what he has achieved to date and after the ceremony I was delighted to have had the opportunity to wish him well in his future studies from all the staff in Portlaoise College.

“With a lot of our students going to university it is great to see many of them choosing to study locally in Carlow IT.”

The scholarship Ceremony took place in the Haughton Building on the ground of Carlow IT on Wednesday December 11.
