Man arrested on Laois border following €250k seizure of cannabis

A man has been arrested on the Laois border following a massive cannabis seizure.

€250,000 worth of the drug was found following a search in the Kildangan area of Kildare – right on the border outside Vicarstown.

Gardai announced details of the find on Wednesday and have updated the situation this morning.

They say: “As part of ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of controlled drugs in Kildare, Gardaí attached to the Kildare detective unit carried out a search of a house, after obtaining a warrant from Naas District Court in Kildangan, Co. Kildare this afternoon, Saturday 8th February, 2020.

“During the search Gardaí seized Cannabis with an estimated street value of €252,000 along with a large cocaine press with scales, bagging and packing machines.”

At the time of the seizure, nobody was arrested but that has since changed.

Gardai say: “A man in his 30s was arrested on Wednesday February 12 and will appear before Naas District Court this morning charged in connection with this incident.”
