Three of Laois’s biggest hotels have announced that they are closing their doors until March 29.

Abbeyleix Manor Hotel, O’Loughlin’s Hotel and the Midlands Park Hotel are all either closed or planning to close soon.

They have made the moves in a bid to curb the spread of the Coronavirus and protect their employees.

A statement on Abbeyleix Manor Facebook page confirmed the news.

They said: “To all our loyal customers. It is with great sadness that we have made the decision to close from 3pm 16th March, until the 29th March 2020. This in the interests of public health and the health of our staff and their families.

“We, the Kent family, want to thank you for your continued support and understanding in this unprecedented time.

“In addition we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this decision. We look forward to resuming business as usual very soon. Thank you.”

Meanwhile, in a circular to staff, the Midlands Park Hotel confirmed they will be closing the hotel from midday tomorrow – Tuesday March 17.

While O’Loughlin’s Hotel, on Main Street in Portlaoise, has a sign on their door which says they are closed.
