A Laois doctor has taken to Instagram to help keep people up to date with the latest information in relation to the Coronavirus.
Dr Sharon Delaney, who is a GP in the Cedar Clinic in Portlaoise, can be found on the popular social media platform as @drsdelaney where she is sharing useful and up to date pointers in relation to Covid-19 as well as answering questions from her followers.
At a time when there is so much detail out there online – and a lot of it false or misleading – it is a welcome addition to obtain medically up to date and factual information from a local source.
And given that Instagram is the social media of choice of a younger generation it is a place where information can be shared in a non-traditional style.
Dr Sharon is from outside Portlaoise and graduated from medicine in UCD in 2010. She then specialised in general practice and has been working in the Cedar Clinic on the Mountmellick Road since 2015.
She has also completed further training in the UK in the field of aesthetic medicine and oversees the Anti Wrinkle and Filler Clinic in the Cedar Clinic which offer services like anti-wrinkle, filler and dermal lip treatments.
Her role in the Cedar Clinic is split between her GP duties and and the Anti Wrinkle Clinic.
A Laois medical professional on Instagram will be a welcome addition where many people may be familiar with the likes of Lisa Ní Chuinnegáin Guthrie (Dr Mammy Guthrie) from Mayo, Dr Laura Lenihan (Dr Laura GP) and Laura Dowling (fabulous pharmacist) from Dublin.
