Tributes paid to Laois woman following sad passing

Tributes have been paid to the late Phil Ryan following her sad passing at the weekend.

Phil, who is from Abbeyleix, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday April 5.

A popular member of Abbeyleix golf club, Phil sponsored a number of competitions over the years and will be sadly missed.

The club paid tribute to their former Lady President on Facebook.

They said: “Phil has been a great member, friend and a very generous sponsor to the Ladies and Mens sections for many years.

“She has left us with her legacy of ‘The Mrs Phil Ryan Trophy’ and ‘WJ Ryan Trophy’ for which we are eternally grateful.

“She also served as Lady President in 1985.

“Deepest sympathy to Bria, Ailish and Karen, their Husbands, Phil’s Grandchildren and her Sister Clair.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”

Phil is survived by her husband Joe and daughters Bria, Ailish and Karen.

She is a cherished grandmother (Lilla) of David, Mark, Grace, Matthew, Mona and Melissa.

Phil will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons-in-law Des Lalor, Kevin Connaire and Nigel Odlum, her sister Clare brother-in-law Denis , nephews, nieces, relatives, carers and many friends.

There will be a Memorial Mass for Phil at a later date to be confirmed.

May Phil Rest in Peace.
