Harpist and soloist set to entertain at increasingly popular Laois parish online lunchtime concert

This increasingly popular Rathdowney church concert is back today and they have some very special guests.

The Coronavirus has changed life as we know it and one Laois parish is certainly moving with the extraordinary times that we find ourselves in.

Rathdowney church will host its seventh online concert live from 1pm today with local harpist and soloist Carmel Minogue.

As all masses in the country have had to go behind closed doors due to Covid-19, parishioners will be used to tuning in to mass on the webcam by now.

But now, using the same webcam, you are able to watch a mini concert once a week – with Parish Priest Fr Martin Delaney recently revealing that more than 800 people are tuning in each week.

“The weekly concerts have an audience of 800 people and growing. The concert is at 1pm each Tuesday at www.rathdowneyparish.ie and when you log on, just follow to the webcam.

“Next week’s concert (May 19th) will feature the famous Rathdowney singing family The Creaghs.

“After that we have vocalist Veronica Dunne from Abbeyleix and later it will be The Cullinane family from Galmoy.”
