Tributes paid following sad passing of Midlands Prison Portlaoise officer

Tributes have been paid following the sad passing of a Midlands Prison Portlaoise officer.

Richie Brennan, from Naas in Kildare and formerly of Harold’s Cross, Dublin, passed away on July 1.

Beloved husband of Celine and dear father of Josh, Aoife and Finn, Richie is sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughter, brother Mark, sister Yvonne, mother-in-law Ann, brothers-in-law John, Tom and Richard, sisters-in-law Karen and Debs, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

He was laid to rest on Sunday July 5 and is also deeply missed by all of his colleagues from the prison service.

Midlands Prison Choir posted a lovely tribute to Richie on their Facebook page.

They said: “Another fallen colleague. The Midlands Prison is mourning the loss of OSG Officer Richie Brennan.

“We are all thinking of Richie’s wife and children, his extended family and circle of friends.

“Richie was due to retire shortly, ultimately, he didn’t get to see the shift out.

“But he was proud to be a Prison Officer and I’m sure he would be proud of the send off we in the Prison Service will give him.

“Rest in Peace Richie.”
