Laois Athletics makes a long awaited return to competitive action this coming Sunday, September 20.
Like all sporting activities, athletics has also been locked down all summer.
The National Track & Field did proceed over the last few weekends, with some great success for Laois athletes, and local action is now ready to recommence in Laois.
The Downeys Suzuki Laois Novice Road Race was the last competitive event, back on February 16.
As we are now approaching the cross country season, the remaining Junior, Intermediate, Masters and Senior Championships will be combined into one race each for Ladies and Men.
In observing Covid 19 Restrictions, entries will be done on-line in advance of the race.
Individual Medal Winners will have medals presented on the day, however the various team categories will be presented later, as working out team winners in four races combined may take more time than usual.
St Abban’s will host the combined Downeys Suzuki Laois Junior Intermediate Senior and Masters Road Race Championships on Sunday morning September 20. The event will be around the Turra Traingle.
The Ladies Race over 3k is at 12noon sharp, to be followed by the Mens 6k event at 12.20pm.
Club Secretaries will circulate the on-line link to their athletes, over the coming days.
The next event on the calendar will be Day 1 of the Downeys Suzuki Laois Cross Country programme.
The event is hosted this year by Oughaval AC, and will take place in Stradbally Hall on Sunday, September 27.
The events on Day 1 are U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16, U-18 and Novice. More details will follow, as Laois Athletics are informed of ongoing Government Covid-19 restrictions.
