Laois gardai arrest disqualified driver and also seek owner of bag recovered from separate arrest

Gardai in Laois have arrested a disqualified driver and seized their car at a Covid checkpoint today.

Gardai explained how the driver also had a bench warrant out for a separate incident.

They said: “While conducting a COVID checkpoint today Laois Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle and through use of the Garda Mobility App.

“They discovered that driver was disqualified from driving and also had an outstanding Bench Warrant.

“The driver arrested and brought before Portlaoise District Court and the vehicle was seized.”

Separately, Gardai are searching for the owner of a bag that was recovered following an arrest made today.

They said: “Earlier today a male was arrested with this backpack in his possession.

“Do you recognise it or own it? Gardaí are looking to identify its owners.
