A fundraiser giveaway launched by a Laois teenager has raised €2,087 for two charities.

Child & Adult Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and the Irish Cancer Society will each received €1,043.50 thanks to Gaastockshop.

This is an Instagram based clothing business which is owned and operated by Laois teenager Oisin Byrne.

The Killeen native set up the business over the first lockdown back in March and it is booming.

With more than 3,000 followers, the 18-year-old’s business works by buying, selling and swapping second hand gear.

Last week, he launched a fundraiser for two charities in the form of a raffle where there were six prizes up for grabs – four jerseys and two pairs of boots.

However, Byrne then received a huge donation from Darren Strong of DS Sports – which meant that there were more than 20 items available in the end.

Byrne ran the fundraiser a week and the began the raffling process on Wednesday with all of the gear given out.

The winners were as follows:

Ben Crotty, Ian Shanahan, Fionn Bergin, Patrick O’Connor, Michael Mulvihill, David McDonald, Kevin Lambe, Paschal McEvoy, Donal Hunt, Shay McKeon, Eoghan Mealey, Darragh Flynn, Michael Murphy, Connor Rice, Ryan Prior, Martina Burke, Laura Murphy
Amy O’Shea, Niall Mannion, Emmet Doyle and Darragh Cashman.

Speaking about the fundraiser, Oisin was delighted with the response and knows the money will be put to good use.

He said: “I want to thank everyone who supported the fundraiser and I am delighted with the response that we got.

“I especially want to thank Darren Strong of DS Sports for his amazingly kind donation of gear.

“I know both charities will put this money to good use.”
