Laois man living Down Under launches appeal to reunite with long lost sister

Martin Farrell is hoping to reunite with his long lost sister Catherine Philomena Farrell

A Laois man living in Australia has launched an appeal to be reunited with his long lost sister.

80-year-old Martin Farrell, originally from Abbeyleix, lives in Melbourne in Australia.

He has not seen his sister Catherine Philomena Farrell in 60 years and a few weeks ago, he posted the most recent photograph that he has of her on Facebook.

He said: “(This is) Kathleen Farrell, (I) wonder if anyone knows where she is?

“Last place known (that she was) working (was) as a nurse in London.

“Born in Abbeyleix, Co Laois, Ireland in 1939.

“Could you please share this photo so I might find my sister she was also known as Catherine Philomena Farrell.”

The post exploded and now has more than 21,000 shares but unfortunately Martin is still trying to track her down.

Speaking to Midlands 103, Martin said: “Somebody sent me the names of two places where she lived in London.

“But this would have been 15 years ago and she might not even be still there now.”
