LaoisToday Podcast: PJ and Niamh Kavanagh on managing a family pub through a global pandemic

It’s been an incredibly tough year for publicans and in the latest LaoisToday podcast, we’re joined by PJ and Niamh Kavanagh, proprietors of one of Portlaoise’s oldest pubs.

They chat about the challenges they’ve had to overcome this year, what the future of their sector might look like and what it’s like growing up in a pub.

As well as looking back on the major revamp of the pub done back in 1999, PJ recalls the history of the premises and some of the great characters that have come through the doors over the years.

They also talk about the greater good of organising big festivals and the possible pedestrianisation of Main Street.

You can listen to the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or below on Soundcloud.
