The death has occurred of Finbar Brophy (Cuddagh, Castletown, Co. Laois) Saturday, January 16th 2021 – beloved husband of Margaret, loved and deeply missed by his daughter Mary and son Barry, son-in-law Neal, daughter-in-law AnnMarie, grandchildren Finn and Ruby, his brothers, sisters, sisters-in-law, neighbours, extended family and friends.

Finbar’s funeral Mass will be live streamed on Wednesday 20th from 11.00am on St Edmunds Church Facebook page.

In line with government/HSE advice at this time, Finbar’s funeral will be attended by immediate family only. House private. The family asks that current guidelines are respected with no gathering outside the church to ensure the safety of all, and are grateful for people’s understanding.

Mary-Anne Creagh (nee Dowling), Harristown, Rathdowney, Co. Laois. January 16th 2021. Peacefully at home. Predeceased by her husband Michael. Sadly mourned by her loving family Michael, Margaret (Nelson), Helen (Fortune), Liz (Dowling), Anne (Conroy) and Chris (Kavanagh), sons in law, grandchildren, great-grandchild, her sister Lil O’Connor, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Due to the COVID-19 Directive a private family funeral has been arranged, the funeral Mass will be live streamed from The Church of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney (http://parishwebsites.ie/rathdowney/) on Monday at 11am followed by burial in Bealady Cemetery. Due to the increase risk of infection you are asked not to congregate in the church yard or the cemetery in the interest of public safety and in compliance with current guidelines.

John Dollard
St John Sq, Portlaoise, Laois

Dollard . St John Sq. Portlaoise. Co. Laois, January 16th 2021, peacefully, at the Regional Hospital Portlaoise. John, beloved husband of Bridie. Dearly loved father to Violet, Sandra , John and Gerard. Loving brother to Andy, Joe, Liam, Michael, Ann, Margaret and Amanda. Deeply regretted by his loving family, brothers in law, sisters in law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Due to current government advice regarding public gatherings, a private family funeral will take place, for family only, in St Peter and Paul’s church on Tuesday at 12 noon. The Mass can be viewed on the parish webcam: https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/webcam/ Interment afterwards in St Peter and Paul’s Cemetery.

Friends and neighbours are very welcome to line the route to the cemetery in a safe and socially-distanced manner, as a mark of respect. The family appreciate your co-operation and understanding at this time.

Catherine Phelan (nee Purcell), Glosha, Rathdowney, Co. Laois. January 16th 2021. Sadly mourned by her loving husband Tom and her family Dermot, Donal and Bernadette, her brother Pat and her sister Marian, sister in law, brother in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and her many friends.

Nora Barsley (née Dowling)
Welling, Kent & Morette, Emo, Laois

The death has occurred of Nora Barsley (nee Dowling), Welling, Kent & Morette, Emo, daughter of the late Jack & Ellen Dowling. Nora passed away, suddenly, but peacefully in her 83rd year, in London on the 4th January. Predeceased by her husband Derek and daughter Siobhan, parents Jack & Ellen, brothers, Bertie, Mikey, Tommy and her sister Mary.

She will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her and, especially by her daughters, Kerry, Colleen & Celine and her son Bernard, her 9 beloved grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, brothers Phil, John, Pat, Jimmy and sisters Margaret, Eileen, Lee, Anne, Bridie, Kathleen and Teresa.

Nora will be laid to rest in the UK on the 12th February in Eltham Cemetery, Crown Woods Way, London SE9 2AZ.

Joe Conroy
Brocca, Clonaslee, Laois

Joe Conroy, Brocca, Clonaslee, Co. Laois. Died on the 15th of January 2021, peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his wife Bridie and his parents. Joe will be sadly missed by his loving children Tom, John, Margaret (Sheerin), Joseph and Ann (Rigney), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law Rose and Ann, sons-in-law Anthony and Eamonn, his sister-in-law Nuala (Leeds, UK), his dear cousin Joe Fitzgerald, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and by adhering to government guidelines, a private family Funeral Mass will take place for Joe’s family members only, on Sunday, 17th January 2021 in St. Manman’s Church, Clonaslee, at 12 noon, followed by burial afterwards in St. Manman’s Cemetery, Clonaslee. A Memorial Mass for Joe will be held at a later date.

House Strictly Private Please at all times. Family flowers only please.

Formerly of 63 St Brigid’s Square, Portarlington. Unexpectedly at his residence. Loving brother of the late James. Sadly missed by his loving wife Bunta, daughter Andrea, heartbroken parents Jimmy and Mary, brothers Declan and Rory, sisters Josephine and Sandra, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Due to the Covid 19 restrictions a private family Funeral will take place. Removal from the family residence 63 St Brigid’s Square, Portarlington on Sunday at 11:20am arriving St Michael’s Church, Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 12 15pm. Funeral afterwards to St Michael’s Cemetery, Portarlington. People are welcome to stand along the route to the Church, in the Churchyard and in the Cemetery with Social Distancing being observed at all times.

The family residence at St Brigid’s Square is Strictly Private Please.

Theresa Quinn (née McGuinness)
Skerries, Dublin/Portarlington, Laois

Quinn, Theresa (née McGuinness), Skerries Co. Dublin, (late of Droughill Portarlington, Co. Laois) 14th January 2021, peacefully at St. Joseph’s Raheny. Wife of the late Tom and mother of the late Patrick and Tommy. Sadly missed by her loving son Michael, adored four grandchildren Marcus, Shane, Eleanor and Tomás, four great grandchildren Shane, Megan, Eoghan Sé, daughters-in-law Noeleen and Helen, extended family and a large circle of Bingo friends.

Reposing at Lannon’s Funeral Home Sunday from 5pm to 7pm, (with strict guidelines and wearing of face coverings) removal Monday to St. Patrick’s Church, Skerries for a private family funeral (10 max family) burial afterwards in Holmpatrick Cemetery. Family flowers only please donations if desired to St. Joseph’s Raheny RCN Unit.
