Two men charged following drug seizures in Laois

Two men have been charged and are due in court following two separate drug seizures in Portlaoise yesterday.

Gardai from the Laois Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a number of searches throughout Thursday.

At one house, €6,600 worth of cannabis was recovered and a man in his 20s arrested before being subsequently charged.

While at a second location, €3,200 worth of cannabis was recovered and a man in his 30s suffered the same fate.

Gardai confirmed that both men were charged with Possession of Drugs for Sale or Supply.

They say: “Laois Divisional Drugs Unit and members from Portlaoise carried out a number of searches on Thursday during which two seizures of cannabis were made.

“€6,600 cannabis was seized in one search in Portlaoise.

“One male in his 20s has been charged with Possession of Drugs for Sale or Supply and is to appear Portlaoise District Court.

“In another search, €3,200 cannabis was seized in a house in Portlaoise.

“One male in his late 30s was charged with Possession of Drugs for Sale or Supply to appear before Portlaoise District Court.”
