It was another busy day of club action with a number of games again down for decision as Laois GAA continue to get through the outstanding 2020 games.
There were two 2020 county hurling finals in O’Moore Park with The Harps claiming the Junior ‘A’ final by getting the better of Portlaoise and Camross, having lost the last three Junior ‘B’ finals, seeing off Portlaoise with a degree of comfort.
There was also another 2020 underage final with Castletown getting the better of Clough-Ballacolla in the U-13 ‘A’ hurling final.
As well as that there was a full round of Division 1 club football games with a number of county players involved with their clubs.
St Joseph’s were comfortable 11-point winners over neighbours Ballylinan in Group A with Graiguecullen getting the better of Ballyroan-Abbey in the other group with Laois defender Trevor Collins making a welcome return from injury.
In the other group, Portlaoise fielded a decent team and had a statement 4-11 to 0-10 win over Portarlington, who still have the 2020 semi-final to play.
In the other game in that group, Courtwood beat neighbours O’Dempsey’s.
The club football leagues in Laois this year are shortened due to the late start to the season with all leagues having two groups of four teams with the top two in each going forward to semi-finals and the bottom two into relegation playoffs.
