The Harps were crowned the 2020 Laois JHC ‘A’ champions after outlasting Portlaoise in a highly entertaining game in O’Moore Park on Sunday afternoon.
They hit the front early on and never trailed in the game, having to withstand a determined Portlaoise comeback in the second half.
Having trailed by seven at one stage Portaoise got back to within two in injury time, but two Ross Young frees eventually saw them over the line.
Ross Young was in truly inspired form as he finished the game with 1-8 of The Harps’ total.
Keith Murphy’s was Portlaoise’s main man in the semi final and it was the same story here – but this time it wasn’t enough.
This was a very pleasing win for The Harps who had been beaten in the 2019 edition of this final by Park-Ratheniska-Timahoe.
The sides will clash again later in the year in the 2020 premier intermediate final.
Our photographer Paul Dargan was on hand to capture all of the celebrations at full time.
