Gardai seeking information following hit and run incident in Laois town

Gardai are seeking the public’s assistance following a hit and run incident in a Laois town.

A cyclist and a vehicle collided this afternoon in Portarlington – but the driver of the vehicle fled the scene before Gardai arrived.

This happened on the Edenderry Road between 4.30pm and 5pm today.

A Garda spokesperson asked for anyone with information to come forward.

They said: “Gardai in Portarlington are investigating an incident involving a pedal cyclist and a vehicle which occurred on the Edenderry Road, Portarlington between 4.30pm and 5pm on July 12.

“The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene prior to arrival of Gardai.

“Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to please contact Portarlington Garda Station on 057-8623112 or Portlaoise Garda Station on 057-8674100

“Leave details for the attention of Garda Aoife Bannon.”
