Laois duo to attempt novel fundraising challenge in aid of Cuisle Centre

What’s Batman without Robin?!

Two Laois men are going to take on a very novel challenge later this month as they attempt to cycle and drive as far as they can in 24 hours.

Patrick Kelly from Castletown, who is both a farmer and massage therapist, and Mark Sythes from Portlaoise are doing the Farmer Batman & Robin Endurance Challenge on Saturday, July 31, in what will be an unofficial world record attempt.

It is a charity fundraiser for Breakthrough Cancer Research and the Cuisle Centre.

Batman will drive the tractor – a vintage 1962 Massey Ferguson, while Robin will be on the bike alongside.

Together they will attempt to cover as much distance as possible in 24 hours.

Both men are no strangers to fundraising efforts and have been hugely active in this space for a number of years.

Only last year Patrick, again dressed as batman and again in the vintage Massey Ferguson, travelled 253km around Laois on his Halloween county tractor challenge.

They launched the fundraiser recently at the Cuisle Centre in Portlaoise and Alf Harvey was on hand to capture some great images.
