Sadness in Castletown and Pike of Rushall communities at death of Hannah Delaney

Hannah Delaney, RIP

There is a deep sadness in the Pike of Rushall, Castletown and surrounding areas this week following the untimely passing of Hannah Delaney.

Mrs Delaney (nee Keaveney) was a highly-respected member of the local community and in Portlaoise Hospital where she worked as a nurse for a number of years.

She passed away on Saturday in St James’ Hospital in Dublin following a brave battle with illness.

Originally from Parkvilla, Moate, in Offaly, she is predeceased by her husband Bill, a former Laois County Councillor and a leading member of Castletown GAA club.

Bill, who was initially co-opted to Laois County Council in place of Sean Fleming, was then elected as a Laois County Councillor for Fianna Fáil in 2004 but only served for a couple of years before his sad death in 2007.

Their children William, Grainne and Niamh are also heavily involved in various local community groups.

Hannah is also predeceased by her father Malachy and will be sadly missed by her loving children, her mother Kathleen, sisters Eilish and Dympna, brothers Vincent, Noel and John, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral details will be announced later.
