It’s a hugely significant day for Laois club hurling with the senior championship semi-finals on in O’Moore Park this afternoon.
The Laois hurling title has been won by just four clubs since 2006 and that Big 4 of Rathdowney-Errill, Clough-Ballacolla and Camross and Borris-Kilcotton contest today’s semi-finals.
And the luck of the draw has been that we have two huge local derbies.
Camross and Borris-Kilcotton meet in the first game at 2pm with Borris-Kilcotton looking for their fourth win in a row in the fixture.
They won this year’s group game as well as last year and in 2019 but they have never beaten Camross in a straight knockout game.
The second game sees champions Clough-Ballacolla take on league winners Rathdowney-Errill at 3.30pm.
Mark Kavanagh is out injured for Rathdowney-Errill but they are expected to welcome back Ross King who picked up a shoulder injury in their second game.
