In Pictures: Incredible day for Ballyroan-Abbey as they triumph on the double

What a day for Ballyroan!

Sunday will be remembered fondly in Ballyroan for years to come, a day when they won two championships in the space of a couple of hours.

First up, the Ballyroan ladies footballers won the Laois intermediate final in Portarlington with a big win over Graiguecullen and about two hours later the Ballyroan-Abbey junior men’s team won the Junior ‘A’ football final when they got the better of Barrowhouse after extra time.

The ladies team had travelled en masse from Portarlington to O’Moore Park to offer their support and the men’s winning captain Ruairi Dunne drew a huge cheer from the supporters when he finished his speech by congratulating their female colleagues.

Ruairi’s sister Clodagh had captained the ladies team – ensuring an incredible couple of hours for the Dunne family.

No doubt there were serious celebrations in Ballyroan on Sunday night and it would have been a crying shame if the Skies oer Ballyroan didn’t get an airing.

After the game in O’Moore Park, photographer Paul Dargan was on hand to get a selection of images, which you can check out in full below.
