Park-Ratheniska Dinner Dance

There was serious style in the Midlands Park Hotel on Easter Sunday as Park-Ratheniska held their dinner dance.

2021 is a year that will go down as one of the best ever for all involved in the club.

The Covid-19 pandemic delayed their 2020 Junior final against Portlaoise which wasn’t played until June.

The scoring touch of Kieran Delaney and the creativity of James Connolly was the difference on the evening in a very tight affair.

Delaney finished the game with 1-3 while Connolly set up a host of scores as Portlaoise had no answer to either of them.

In the end, Ratheniska ran out 1-8 to 0-9 winners and made the jump up to the Intermediate grade.

They breezed through that competition too and by the end of October, they were back in another county final.

Mountmellick were their opponents this time with James Connolly and Kieran Delaney once again doing the damage.

Ratheniska were 1-15 to 0-12 winners at full time and will play in the Senior championship later this year.

Both cups were on display as players, mentors and supporters celebrated their success in the Midlands Park.

Photographer Denis Byrne was at the dinner dance on Sunday evening.
