Gardai are investigating followed an alleged incident of assault that took place in a retail car park in Laois this week.
The incident occurred at around 4.20pm on Monday at a car park on the Timahoe Road in Portlaoise.
LaoisToday understands that prior to the alleged assault, two people were involved in a road traffic collision.
It is believed that following this collision, the alleged incident of assault took place.
LaoisToday understands that it is alleged that as one woman approached the other, they were knocked down, assaulted and then the other drove away.
The woman who was assaulted was attended to by onlookers in the car park who duly called the Gardai and stayed with her until they arrived.
Gardai say: “Gardaí are investigating an alleged incident of assault in a retail car park on Timahoe Road, Portlaoise, Co. Laois on Monday 4th July 2022 at approximately 4.20pm.
“No arrests have been made at this time.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
