Friends and family rally around Laois man in Maynooth as family go through unimaginable grief

Bob Delaney Maynooth

A fundraising night is being held in Maynooth this evening for a Laois man and his family who have become deeply embedded in the community there.

Michael ‘Bob’ Delaney, who is originally from The Swan, lost his wife Jenny, at the age of 41, suddenly in May of this year and is now battling his own sickness. The couple have two young children – Kellee (10) and Joseph (8).

And the community in Maynooth have rallied around the family during their time of difficulty.

A Benefit Fund has been set up and this evening the Newtown Inn in Maynooth are holding a benefit night in aid of the family.

The entertainment gets underway at 6.30pm with live music. There is also an auction with a range of top quality items up for sale – ranging from a bathroom suite to the value of €3,000, All Ireland final tickets, a helicopter ride and a fourball in Carton House.

There is also a raffle with a selection of top quality prizes.

As well as the Delaney family friends and neighbours in Maynooth, the evening is being attended by colleagues from The Swan and Timahoe.

A Go Fund Me page has also been put in place – and you can donate here.
