Predeceased by her father Thomas. Much loved mother of Lorcan. Deeply regretted by her mother Catherine and by her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.

Straboe, Portlaoise, Laois

John Dunne Straboe, Portlaoise Co. Laois. Died December 15th 2022 peacefully in the loving care of The Staff at St.Brigids Community Nursing Home Shaen l. Dear son of the late Patrick and Anna. Predeceased by his brothers P.Dunne (Straboe) Pat (Scotland) Eamon (UK) and Noel (UK). Deeply regretted by his sister-in-law Julia, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandniece, cousins, neighbours, relatives and his many friends.

John will repose in the home of his niece Anita (R32K685 ) on Friday from 4pm. Recital of The Rosary at 8pm. Funeral arriving for 12 noon Requiem Mass on Saturday in The Church of The Assumption, The Heath. Burial after in the adjoining cemetery.

Breada Whelan (née Quirke)
”Green Lawns”, Hollymount, Carlow/Laois/Kilkenny

Breada Whelan, (née Quirke) of “Green Lawns”, Hollymount, Carlow, Co. Laois and formerly of Coolcullen, Co. Kilkenny, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on December 14th, 2022, at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved wife of the late Martin, much loved mother of Michael, Hugh, Dorothy and Oliver, adored grandmother of Martin Óg and Katie, cherished mother-in-law of Marion and Nicola and treasured sister of the late George, James, Maria and Diana.

She will be sadly missed by her loving sons, daughter, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her home, “Green Lawns”, Hollymount, Carlow (Eircode R93 F851) on Friday from 2pm concluding with Prayers at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 1pm in St. Abban’s Church, Killeen. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Luggacurren, Portlaoise, Laois

Peacefully. Dearly loved and loving wife of Bertie and dear mother of Anna and David.She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband,son, daughter, daughter-in-law Miriam, granddaughter Madi, sisters Eva and Lucy, brothers Cecil, John and Mark, nieces , nephews, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, extended family and friends.

Reposing at David and Miriam’s home (Eircode R32FF6E) on Friday at 1pm until 8pm. Funeral Service on Saturday at the house at 1pm Funeral Service Link , (Everyone welcome) followed by burial in Cross Hill Cemetery, Castlecomer: Graveside Service – will be available to view at 6:30pm on Saturday

Boley, Ballylinan, Laois, R14 C990/Athy, Kildare

Predeceased by her loving husband Paddy and her daughters Emer, Patricia and Laura. Deeply regretted by her loving children Martin, Margaret, Pauline, Michael, Fiona and Adrian, brother Tony, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her residence, (R14 C990) on Thursday (December 15th) from 2pm with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Friday morning to arrive at St. Joseph’s Church, Balyyadams, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Formerly of Arlington Estate, Portarlington, County Laois. Suddenly at her residence. Loving sister of the late Tommy and Mark. Sadly missed by her loving husband Emmet, sons Curtis, Corey and Caeden, parents Tommy and Concepta, brothers Stephen, Kenny and Evin, sister Carol, granny Ryan, parents-in-law Tommy and Mary, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Ryan (née Finane) Rita, Howth and formerly of Rathdowney, Co. Laois. 13th December 2022. Suddenly, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of the late Fergal. Very sadly missed by her loving sons David and Tomás, daughters Avril and Brenda, daughters-in-law Asta and Jenny, son-in-law Vinny, her adored grandchildren SallyAnne, Ava, Adam, Sophie, Ailí, Luke, Shannon, Alex, Tadhg, Leo, Shane, Olivia, Philip and Emily Rose, sister Mary, brothers Ciaran, Georgie, Seamus, Billy and Michael, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, neighbours and her cat Molly.

Funeral arriving for requiem Mass at 11.30am in SS Peter and Paul’s Church on Saturday. Webcam – Portlaoise Parish. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Nora Phelan (née Duggan)
Castle St, Durrow, Laois

Peacefully, at her residence, in her 96th year. Predeceased by her husband John (Jack), her brothers Ned, Peader, Bill, Jim and Martin, her sisters Maura, Nancy and Tess.

Deeply regretted by her loving sons John, Brendan, Justin and Declan, her daughters in law Breda, Emer, Pat and Stephanie, her sisters in law Peggy and Mary, her twelve grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Phelan’s Funeral Home, Durrow, from 4.00pm on Thursday with Rosary at 8.00pm.

Kitty (Catherine) Kennedy (nee Brophy), Sacred Heart Nursing Home, Crosspatrick and formerly Rathlogan, Johnstown, Co. Kilkenny and Harristown, Rathdowney, Co. Laois. December 11th 2022. Unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny. Predeceased by her husband Martin. Sadly mourned by her brother Harry, sisters Imelda, Helen, Teresa and Bernadette, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass in The Church of The Holy Trinity, Rathdowney (parishwebsites.ie/rathdowney) on Friday at 1 o’clock followed by interment in Galmoy Cemetery.

Eileen (Helen) Mc Grath
Rathmoyle, Abbeyleix, Laois

Peacefully in the care of Brookhaven Nursing Home, Ballyragget in the presence of her loving son Mark, and surrounded by her nieces and nephews. Deeply regretted by her loving son Mark, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing in the Chapel of Repose adjoining the Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix, from 6.30pm on Friday with Rosary at 7.30pm. Removal from her residence to The Church of the Most Holy Rosary on Saturday for 10.30am Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to Dementia Care Laois.
