Funeral details announced for Sean Clear, the young Laois man who died tragically in New Zealand

Sean Clear RIP

Provisional funeral arrangements have been announced for Sean Clear, the young Laois man who was killed in a tragic accident in New Zealand.

From Ballacolla, Sean was killed while working in on the north island of New Zealand late last week. He was due to celebrate his 25th birthday on Monday and had only been in the country a couple of months having departed on his travels last October.

Sean was a popular member of the Ballacolla community, a hurler with Clough-Ballacolla and a past pupil of Ballacolla NS and St Fergal’s in Rathdowney. He was a graduate of Salesian Agricultural College in Pallaskenry in Limerick.

His dad Tom is very well-known in GAA circles as a former vice-chairman of Laois County Board and a current Leinster Council delegate.

Sean’s body is due to be repatriated to Ireland this week – provisional arrangements are that he will repose at his home at Farren Cross, Ballacolla, on Thursday and Friday evening with Funeral Mass on Saturday.

Seán’s family have requested that the house remain private from Monday to Wednesday please.

It is the second death to hit the family in recent times, with Sean’s grandmother, Evelyn Martin, only laid to rest just over two weeks ago.

Sean is predeceased by his beloved Nanny Ev and Granddad Tommy.

He is sorely missed by his heartbroken family, parents Tom and Julie and sister Ella, Granny Mary, Granddad Jerry, Godparents Ger and Claire, Godson Charlie, aunts Donna, Elaine, Nicola, Emma, Liz, Stephanie and Natascha, uncles Paul, James, Martin, Glynn, Eddie and Barry, cousins Jack, Chloe, Lorna, Oran, Chloe, Kizzie, Cian, Rachel, Caleb, Laoise, Arran, Roisin, Aoibhinn, Eabha, Saoirse, Frankie, Charlie, Anna, Culainn, Kayla and Taylor and a wide circle of relatives and friends.
