Music at the Malthouse, Stradbally, an annual festival by Music Generation Laois, got underway last night.
Music at the Malthouse features unique musical collaborations between young musicians from Music Generation Laois and guest musicians.
On Thursday, the show opened with a dynamic Trad/Folk/ World music trio made-up of Kentucky fiddler Liz Knowles, Niall Vallely on concertina and Congolese guitarist Niwel Tsumbu presented by Music Network.
On Friday 5 May, the headline act at the festival is US Harp Ensemble, The New England Irish Harp Orchestra.
Also performing on the Friday night concert is the Music Generation Laois Harp Orchestra and Junior Trad Group, and the Laois School of Music Junior Youth Orchestra (7pm show).
On Saturday, May 6, at 7pm, the festival will culminate with performances from the Music Generation Laois Trad Orchestra, Trad Group, Uilleann Pipes Quartet, and The Harpettes, and the Scottish harp-fiddle duo, Catriona McKay and Chris Stout.
The beautiful Malthouse venue in Stradbally is a magical setting that gives audiences a very rare opportunity to attend a concert in a historic Malt House that is privately owned, and wonderfully restored as a contemporary residence.
