Heritage Week continues with more action-packed events this weekend

We’re back again with your guide to what’s on in the county, and it looks set to be one of the busiest weekends of the summer in Laois this weekend.

FRIDAY 25 AUGUST
  • Hertitage Week continues until Sunday 27 August. For more information on everything the week has to offer, click here.
  • There is a table quiz in aid of Clonkeen and District Community group at 8pm in the Deadman’s Inn, Ballyfin.
  • Balcony Cinema in Mountmellick are showing Beauty and the Beast at 7pm.

SATURDAY 26 AUGUST
  • Rathdowney Errill GAA are holding their annual race night in Thurles greyhound stadium. First race is at 7.50pm.
  • Laois Hospice are holding afternoon tea in their garden on Patrick Street, Durrow, from 2pm to 5pm.
  • Timahoe and Stradbally United are holding a Sports Day from 2pm to 6pm to celebrate 10 years in existence.
  • The Laois Football championship is hotting up. In SFC Round 3 action, O’Dempsey’s play Crettyard Gaels in O’Moore Park at 6pm while Ballyroan Abbey play Arles Killeen in O’Moore Park at 7.30pm

SUNDAY 27 AUGUST
  • Ballinakill GAA are holding their Family Fun Day in the GAA Grounds, Ballinakill from 12pm to 5pm. The day includes kids games, boucning castles, gladiator games and a barbecue.
  • The Abbeyleix Estate Open Day takes place today.
  • The Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin are holding a Family Picnic Day in Punchestown from 1pm to 6pm.
  • St Abban’s AC are holding their parish 10k with registration in the clubhouse at 11.45am.
  • In more Round 3 SFC action,  The Heath play Killeshin in O’Moore Park at 6pm while St Joseph’s take on Ballyfin Gaels at 7.30pm.
  • In the SFC relegation battles, Clonaslee St Manmans Gaels play Mountmellick Gaels at 12pm in Portarlington. Arles Kilcruise will then play Stradbally in 1pm in Ratheniska. For more on all the GAA action on this weekend, click here.
