The Lip Sync Battle fundraiser that has been all the rage over the past year or so is guaranteed good night out, brilliant fun and a great source of finance to whatever club or organisation organises it.

On Saturday night Emo GAA club were the latest to pack out a local hotel and coming on the back of a great win in the Leinster club championship earlier that day in Wicklow it meant spirits were high as the crowd filled in to the Midlands Park Hotel.

Eleven acts took part on the night, including club chairman and playing great Mick Lawlor who helped front the ‘Guns n Posers’ group. Players, supporters and club officials all had a role to play too.

Other groups included the ‘Coolaghy Boys’, ‘Emo’s Kitty Kats’ and the ‘Blues Brothers’.

But the deserving winners were the group known as the ‘Village Crows’ comprised of Anne Lawlor, Denise Lawlor, Shannon Costello, Louise Gorman and Rhonda Mulhall.

Initially coming on stage dressed as nuns, there was a significant twist to their performance which you can watch here.

The fundraiser is part of the ongoing process to develop a new complex – including a stand – in the grounds in Emo.

The two-storey building incorporates seating stand area, dressing rooms, gym, meeting rooms, kitchen and toilet facilities.

Whilst being of great value to all club members, it will be of particular benefit to juvenile players who are the future stars of the club.

Our photographer Julie Anne Miller was in the Midlands Park Hotel on Saturday where she had back stage access to meet the acts before they performed.

Meanwhile, the busy schedule continues for Emo as they are back in Leinster club championship this Saturday when they face Dublin champions Ballyboughal. That game will be at a Laois venue with details yet to be confirmed.
