Time for Fine Gael TDs to stand up for rural Ireland, says Renua

Renua Ireland has warned Fine Gael TDs that it is time for them to stand up for rural Ireland and ensure the current National Planning Framework is dumped.

Responding to the latest set of leaks by ‘furious’ FG TDs, Renua had this to say:

“We have heard talk for years of rural uprisings and how Fine Gael ministers are divided over the anti-rural direction of Fine Gael.

“These uprisings, frankly, are as convincing as Donald Trump’s policies on climate change.

“Rural Affairs Minister Michael Ring and Business Minister Heather Humphreys face a serious responsibility to defend Rural Ireland. Sulks, crocodile tears and saying you are not happy is not enough.

“The time has gone where we are impressed by mythical rows behind closed doors.

“It is time for FG TDs, when it comes to the latest attack by indifference, to walk the walk rather than just talk the talk.

“So far, the main contribution of the token ‘Minister for the West’ Mr Ring has consisted of a foreword to the National Planning Framework.

“It is time for rural FG TDs to make a clear stand, put the party Whip on the line and seize their – or rather our country – back.”
