The Rising Sons

There’s plenty of excitement, including great sporting action, to sink your teeth into this weekend. If sports are not your thing, don’t fear because there’s enough dinner dances, pantos, concerts, Gala balls, comedy gigs, table quizzes and walks to keep you going for a lifetime.

Park-Ratheniska Ladies dinner dance

The Park-Ratheniska Ladies footballers are holding their dinner dance in the Midlands Park Hotel.

Mountmellick Macra Panto

The Mountmellick Macra Panto is back with their performance of ‘Aladdin’ nightly until Sunday night. The nightly shows are at 8.15pm, with a matinee on Sunday at 3pm and earlier show on Sunday night at 7pm.

Charity Gala Ball

A charity Gala ball in aid of Portarlington senior citizens takes place in the Heritage Hotel, Killenard. To book a place call Marie on 087 7589896.

Neil Delamere

The hilarious Offaly comedian (but we won’t judge him for that!) will be in the Mildlands Park Hotel tonight.

Concert in Rathdowney

A concert featuring St Fergal’s College choir and musical theatre singer Rebecca Stor will take place in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney, at 7.30pm.

Killabban table quiz

Killabban ICA are holding a table quiz in Farrell’s Lounge.


Clonaslee St Mamman’s awards night

Clonaslee St Mamman’s are holding their underage awards night in Clonaslee Community hall.


The Heath Walk

The annual fun walk in aid of Heath Hall and Cemetery takes place outside of the Church Hall at 3pm.

Laois v Offaly

Laois senior hurlers are taking on neighbours Offaly in O’Connor Park at 12.30pm.

Laois v Clare

Laois Ladies footballers are playing Clare in Stradbally at 2pm.

Laois v Wicklow

To top off the busy weekend of sporting action, Laois will go down to Joule Park in Aughrim to play Wicklow at 2pm.

CD Launch in Portlaoise

The Rising Sons are launching a CD in Peig’s Bar. All proceeds from the CD will go to Laois Dyslexia Support Group and PATH Portlaoise. Copies can also be bought in Anthem Music, Portlaoise.
