This weekend is another busy weekend of events around the county with table quizzes, an interesting looking ‘I’m a celeb get me out of here’ in Killeshin, and a very high profile Triathlon taking place in Portlaoise.

FRIDAY, APRIL 6

I’m a celeb get me out of here 

The ‘I’m a Celeb get me out of here’ fundraiser is in aid of Killeshin FC and promises to be  a great night’s entertainment as they push on with ambitious plans to develop their club facilities. 16 local personalities are taking part, including Laois football captain Stephen Attride, and over 600 tickets are already sold. Taking place in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel at 8pm.

Camross Camogie table quiz

The Camross Camogie club are holding a fund raising Table Quiz in Bergins lounge at 9.30pm

The 2 Johnnies in Portlaoise

The hugely entertaining comedy duo from Tipperary were due to perform in the Midlands Park Hotel last month as a Laois Macra na Feirme fundraiser but Storm Emma and all that snow put an end to that. They have been rescheduled for this Friday at 8pm. A limited number of tickets are still available.

SATURDAY, APRIL 7

Trilogy Triathalon

Trilogy Triathlon takes place at 7.30am on Saturday at Portlaoise Leisure Centre. This is a huge event, sponsored by Joe Mallon Motors, with the competitors arriving back to the Portlaoise Leisure Centre from 11am onwards.

Killeshin Pipe Band 

Killeshin Pipe Band are hosting the Oisin Players in their upcoming drama, “The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley” at 8pm in the Glenside Lounge.

Slieve Bloom Walks

The Forrest Walk takes place at 6pm meeting in the Garryhinch Forest Car Park. Grade C 3kn. Duration 1-2 hours.

SUNDAY, APRIL 8 

Durrow Fishing 

The next trout fishing competition will be held this Sunday from 9.30am with the weigh-in at 6pm sharp in the Durrow Inn.

Slieve Bloom Walks

Meet at Cattle mart in Mountrath at 11am. Grade B 10km. Duration 3 hours.

5K Fundraising Run

There is a 5k run taking place in Park Ratheneska on Sunday 1pm. Registration from 12pm. This is a fundraising event for Padraig Dunne as he prepares to go to Zambia during the summer to teach kids.
