Beat the Barge is back for its seventh year running

The annual Vicarstown Beat the Barge run in back – and it’s here with a difference.

This year the 4km run has a theme – it’s a Beat the Barge Zombie Run.

Participants are beating invited to dress up and run in fancy dress, zombies especially welcome.

The idea of the event is to complete the 4km before the barge on the water gets back.

A massive annual event

Beat the Barge traditionally takes place in September, but was moved to the last weekend of October this year as Annanough were in the junior county final.

Massive numbers of people turn out to the event, with over 200 people taking place in last year’s run.

Registration takes from 11am in Vicarstown Community Centre and race begins at 12 noon.

The first 200 people to register will get a technical t-shirt. Light refreshments afterwards in Crean’s Pub.

Entry is €12 adult and €6 per child. There are also lots of great spot prizes on the.
