A chance to dine at Ballyfin House and other great prizes at the national Holiday World Show

Laois Tourism is proud to be representing the county this weekend at the Holiday World Show in the RDS from the 25 to 27 January.

This is the first time that the whole county will be represented at a show that will see 40,000 visitors over the 3 days.

Laois will be in the home holidays section on stand N23 and promoting Laois as an ideal short break destination.

There are also some great prizes to be won at the stand:

  • Two nights B&B and an evening meal from the 5 star Heritage Hotel and Spa
  • A five course tasting dinner with wine from Ballyfin
  • An overnight stay with breakfast and dinner from the Midlands Park Hotel with tickets to a show in Dunamaise Arts Centre
  • A two night stay in Lullaby Lodge on Hushabye Alpaca Farm,
  • A stunning Sloth sculpture from Nook & Cranny
  • A food and drink hamper from Laois Food Producers & an hour’s genealogy consultation from Abbeyleix Heritage House

In the past, awareness of Laois as a tourist destination has been low and one of the contributing factors to this is not telling people about the county.

Attending high profile shows like other counties will ensure that Laois will now have the opportunity to be in people’s consideration when thinking about short breaks in Ireland.

Rose Bergin of Laois Tourism spoke about positives on a break to Laois.

“Our accommodation is some of the highest quality in Ireland.  The breath of accommodation is also superb from 5 stars to glamping to barge stays and self catering and everything in-between.

“Our location makes it an easy place to reach with over 3 million people within 90mins of Laois.  Our transport links are also excellent with both the M7/M8 passing through and train stations in Portlaoise & Portarlington.

“There are also so many things to do in Laois.  Especially for ‘great escapers’ who are looking for a slower pace and rural tranquillity.

“They can enjoy the Slieve Blooms, numerous woodlands, bogs, lakes, canals, castles, round towers & majestic country estates  to name but a few.

“Living in Laois we sometimes take for granted how beautiful and scenic our county is, especially to urban visitors. Tourism is everyone’s job in Laois and we all need to promote our county more to all visitors.

Rose also spoke about the some of the ‘best people in the country’ living in Laois.

“Finally, we have some of the best people in the country living in Laois and the team at Laois Tourism has really felt that putting together our stand for the show.

“From hotels, activity providers, accommodation providers, photographers, food producers, everyone we asked for help offered it so willingly, they are proud to represent Laois and want to help us showcase the county.

“Finally a massive thank you to everyone helping us to man the stand this weekend.  It has been a pleasure working with everyone around the county and if we can continue this momentum we will be welcoming lots more people to Laois in the very near future,” Rose concluded.

So if you are in Dublin this weekend call and see Laois Tourism at stand N23.
