In Pictures: Summer solstice breakfast celebrates some of the best of what Laois has to offer

If you were one of the adventurous souls who gathered at 4.45am for the summer solstice in Laois today, your positive attitude most definitely paid off when sampling some of the great tastes the county has to offer.

‘Dawn To Dusk -a celebration of Laois Food and Drink’ began in Vicarstown at 4.45am this morning to sample stunning views over Laoisv as well as dome culinary delights.

Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, the crowds enjoyed some of the best local produce on offer.

Porridge was provided by Kevin Scully of the Merry Mill, with teas and coffees coming from The Pantry.

Helen G’s ‘G’s Gourmet Jam’ and Mueller O’Connell breads were also in the picturesque setting in what is a day to experience the tastes of Laois on plates throughout the county.

To really set down an incredible start to the longest day of the year, there was a bagpiper in attendance, while they watched the sun come up and did yoga with local woman Caroline Carroll afterwards.

There are also different complimentary Laois food and drinks on offer across various restaurants and hotels today.

To finish the stunning day off, there is wonderful Long Table Banquet in Ballykilcavan Farm and Brewery where you get to meet the makers and eat and drink Laois produce.
