Tributes paid following sad and sudden passing of Laois man

There is deep sadness in Crettyard following the news that Jimmy Walsh has passed away.

A keen athlete, Jimmy was heavily involved in his local athletics club St Abban’s.

They, and many others, paid tribute to Jimmy when the news of his death was made known last night.

They said: “We are deeply saddened at the sudden passing of club member Jimmy Walsh.

“He was a very active member of our Fit4Life group and as a group leader, he helped and inspired many in the club.

“He will be greatly missed around the track and at all our club occasions.

“Our thoughts are with his wife Clare, his sons Killian, Emmett and the extended Walsh and Rowan families. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

“As a mark of respect, those club members within the 5km radius and abiding by social distancing rules will be participating in a guard of honour outside the church.”

Jimmy, who is pre-deceased by his father Joe, will be sadly missed by his wife Clare, sons Killian and Emmett, mother Mary, siblings John, Mary, Billy, Anthony, Jody, and Patrick, sisters-in-law, nieces, aunts and uncles, extended family, relatives and friends.

Due to the Covid 19 Directive a Private Family Funeral will take place in the coming days.

While a Memorial Mass for Jimmy will take place at a future date.
