Laois Gardai appeal for information following St Patrick’s weekend assault

Gardai in Laois are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an assault in Portlaoise over the St Patrick’s weekend.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning on Friday March 18.

It happened at 3am near the taxi rank at Top Square in Portlaoise at the top of main street.

LaoisToday understands that a person was injured following the incident but their injuries are not life-threatening.

A spokesperson for the Gardai said: “Portlaoise Garda are investigating an assault that occurred near the Taxi Rank, Top Square, Portlaoise on the 18th March 2022 at approximately 3am.

“We are particularly interested in speaking to anyone that may have information, witnessed an incident at the location or has mobile phone footage to come forward

“We are also interested in any dashcam footage from any vehicles parked at the taxi rank at the time.
