Garda detectives charge man after two youths the victim of robbery in Portlaoise

Gardai have charged a man in his 30s after two youths were the victims of a robbery recently.

The incident occurred early on Friday May 13 in the Kilminchy area of Portlaoise.

As part of the investigation, which is being carried out by the Detective Branch in Portlaoise, a number of properties have been searched.

Following these searches, a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

He has subsequently been charged and will appear at Tullamore District Court today.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai attached to the Detective Branch in Portlaoise are investigating the Robbery from two youths in the Kilminchy area of Portlaoise.

“This occurred earlier on the morning of Friday May 13.

“As part of the investigation a number of properties were searched in the area and one male in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of Robbery.

“The male was detained at Portlaoise Garda station in accordance with section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

“The man arrested in connection with this incident has been charged.

“He is scheduled to appear before Tullamore District Court on the morning of Monday May 16.”
