Religious magazine set to celebrate 130 years of publication in Laois

The Sacred Heart Messenger is one of Ireland’s oldest religious magazines and still one of the biggest selling monthlies.

And this year will see them celebrate 130 years of continuous publication.

This special anniversary illustrates the cherished relationship the magazine has with its readers, promoters and wider Irish society.

The Sacred Heart Messenger is a publication of the Irish Jesuits and aims ‘to spread the love of God in the heart of Jesus Christ’.

And a spokesperson for the magazine confirmed that they are planning to hold a celebratory mass in Portlaoise:

They said: “We look forward to celebrating with readers and promoters at a Mass of thanksgiving in Portlaoise.

“On Sunday April 15 at 3pm, Bishop Denis Nulty will be principal celebrant at Mass in SS Peter and Paul Church, Portlaoise.

“All are welcome at Mass and for light refreshments afterwards.”
