As everyone knows, a friend in need is a friend indeed.
When TY student Kevin Dillon’s entire quiz team failed to turn up for final of the Battle of the wits, a friend by the name of Katie came to his rescue.
Battle of Wits is a table quiz tournament specifically aimed at Transition Year students.
So, just as Kevin was in a spot of trouble, fellow Portlaoise College student Katie Linh Roe stepped forward.
Katie who so happened to be at the event with her dad, teacher and Laois GAA legend Pat Roe.
Katie was certainly a super sub and not only was the day saved but two brains were mightier than four!
Katie and Kevin got stuck in and despite the disadvantage won the quiz in Mountmellick library on Tuesday November 13.
Battle of the Wits is organised by the library services of Carlow, Laois, Leitrim, Longford, Kilkenny, Offaly, Roscommon and Westmeath.
