This week sees the LaoisToday team introduce a new weekly #LoveLaois Podcast.
The #LoveLaois Podcast is free to download on all podcast platforms and will focus on some of the week’s big local stories.
“With the local sports coverage well covered in our regular Talking Sport Podcasts, this production will focus on non-sport related stories,” says LaoisToday owner and managing editor Steven Miller.
“It will have an upbeat tone, looking back on some of the LaoisToday stories that grabbed attention over the past week, and will give an insight into what we cover and how we approach various issues.
“We also intend on hearing from a variety of well-known local and national figures.”
Our first guest is Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council Thomasina Connell, who chats about her recent trip to the USA, where she marched in the St Patrick’s Day parade, met Hilary Clinton and also travelled to Williamson County in Tennessee which is twinned with Laois County Council.
She also chats about recently becoming a mother and how she balances that with her busy life as a county councillor and self-employed solicitor.
As well as that, Steven and Alan reflect on the April Fools story that reported that exiled Royals Harry and Meghan were to move to live in Clonaslee.
The lads also chat about a Michelin Star chef setting up a restaurant in Abbeyleix, the Honest Egg children in Durrow and the passing of well-known Laois women ‘Pippy’ McEvoy and Lillian O’Neill.
