A Laois horse racing trainer and syndicate enjoyed a very successful weekend at a meeting in Punchestown.

On Sunday, Liam Cusack’s Arrycan was victorious at the Kildare venue.

Laois senior football manager Billy Sheehan has launched a blistering attack on people who have used social media to abuse players and the team in recent weeks.

Paul Beehan, a 38-year-old hotelier from the Curragh in Kildare, is the newly appointed General Manager of The Heritage in Laois.

He is a graduate of the prestigious Shannon College of Hotel Management and has dedicated over 25 years of his life to the hospitality industry.

Fianna Fáil have selected eight candidates to run for the party in Laois in next year’s Local Elections. 

Party delegates from around the county gathered in the Killeshin Hotel where, they chose candidates to run in the Portlaoise, Borris-Mountmellick and Graiguecullen-Portarlington Municipal Districts.

Dermot McGann is from Ballacolla. He is married to Kay and they have two boys – Tom and Jack.

Laois business owner John Watchorne has applied for planning permission to turn the old Eason’s building in Portlaoise into a new three-storey gym.

This building is currently located in Lyster Square, between EuroGiant and Browne’s Jewellers.
