Laois farmer Garett Behan is a highly-regarded pedigree cattle breeder and he hit the headlines over this week when he sold a Simmental bull for €52,000 at auction.

Clonagh Lucky Explorer was sold at the Irish Simmental Cattle Society premier sale in Roscommon on Saturday last for a record €52,000.

9 – Appeal for witnesses following accident which saw arrest and person airlifted to hospital

Gardai in Laois have revealed they have arrested one person following a crash in the county.

The accident happened around 10am on Thursday morning on the N77 on the Abbeyleix side of Portlaoise just a short distance after Junction 17.

Gardai, ambulances and a helicopter attended the scene and Gardai are seeking for any witnesses to come forward.

10 – Walsh the hero as late goals see Laois survive in Division 2

Two late goals from Gary Walsh helped Laois to an unlikely and thrilling win over Fermanagh in Enniskillen on Saturday afternoon.

And the result ensures Laois’s survival in Division 2 for the 2021 season.
