GOOD WEEK FOR…
Support for nurses and midwives
There was huge support in Laois for nurses and midwives out on strike from Wednesday to Thursday. Local hotels and convenience stores proved food, as did members of the Irish Prison Service.
Portlaoise town centre regeneration
It was announced this week that the €20 million development was secured for Portlaoise
Laois bridal hall
There was delight for Ballybrittas bridal hall as they took home the award for Midlands Boutique of the Year at the 2019 Irish Wedding Awards.
Panto groups in Laois
Both Ballylinan Panto and Raheen Panto gave great performances to the crowds. A rip-roaring success.
Scoil Chriost Rí
Sport in the school is as strong as ever. Their Senior B team reached the South Leinster D final while their basketballers are looking forward to representing Ireland at the International Schools Basketball World championships in Greece.
BAD WEEK FOR…
Abbeyleix and Ballyroan communities
Sadness and shock swept over the two communities on Wednesday following the tragic death of much-loved Parish Priest Fr John Cummins.
Beef farmers
Beef farmers have been hit hard in recent months, and the hidden cost of family labour needs to be highlighted, argued well-known local farmer Liam Delaney
