It was another busy week in LaoisToday and once again we were delighted to bring you all the important news stories.

News
- The robbery of a disabled man in Graiguecullen caused an outcry. A petition has been launched for increased security
- It’s fair to say that Deputy Séan Fleming was very unimpressed with Minister for Finance Michael Noonan. He accused him of the “most inappropriate thing any Minister for Finance has done in my lifetime”.
- The return of a man who was recently released from custody in the UK was a source of concern in Mountrath. Gardai urged calm.
Sport
- Laois hurlers surived an epic extra-time battle with Kerry to avoid relegation. Read how they retained their Division 1B status.
- A crucial winner takes all relegation game takes place in Tullamore. Arles-Kilcruise’s David Conway believes a victory over Offaly will set Laois up for the championship.
- The sad death of Ballinakill hurling legend Mick ‘Maggie’ Walsh occurred during the week. One of Laois’s finest ever players he played with club, county and province.
- Concern was raised over the amount of football games underage players are getting. Some could play only five matches.

- Our moment in time features some classic Portlaoise GAA photos from 2000. Their dinner dance celebrated the success of the previous year.
